The Power of Working Together

Our work culture requires us to learn to function well in a team environment.

There’s no way around this.

Everything is interconnected and working well with others is something that is imperative to individual and team success. This was a lesson our mom’s taught us while we were growing up, but it’s increasingly more critical for success in our work environments. If you don’t embrace this reality, you won’t survive.

The cool thing is we have examples all around us that prove out the reality that we can go further, faster together.

Have you ever heard of the Belgian draft horse?

I learned of this from Dave Ramsey a few years ago and it’s an incredible example of what we can do together.

Belgian draft horses are one of the strongest horses in the world. There are actual competitions held to see which horse can pull the most weight. One Belgian draft horse can pull up to 8,000 lbs. Think about that for a second. That is (4) tons or a female African elephant or (10) CVO Harley Davidson Road Kings. That’s a lot but not the incredible thing about these horses

Here’s the amazing thing about Belgian draft horses.

If you harness (2) Belgian draft horses together who don’t’ know each other, they can, together, pull 20,000-24,000 lbs. Two horses can pull three times as much weight together.

If you harness (2) Belgian draft horses together who know each other and trained together, they can pull 30,000 to 32,000 lbs. That’s almost four times as much as a single horse.

We can go further, faster together. We need those around us to share the weight of our vision and path to get there. We can increase our productivity as a team if we invest in each other and pull together as a team vs. trying to figure it out on our own.

Together is better. Who are your harnessing yourself next to on your journey?
